Pet Of The Week – Vienna
Published February 17, 2012We just had to include Vienna this week. She is a house cat, but managed to escape last weekend… causing lots of worry for her owners, Matt & Alison. Congratulations on being our pet of the week Vienna!

Food, cuddles, pushing her mum and dad out of bed at night and the newly discovered great outdoors.
Dislikes
She would like me to say that she hates her doggy brother and sister, but I see her kiss them when she thinks I’m not looking. Like all cats, she hates doors and not being able to go through one whenever she wants to, even if she doesn’t know she wants to until it’s shut.
Why is your pet so great?
Vienna is feisty, flirty, faithful and fearless. Perhaps this comes partly from being a rescue cat and partly from her breed, but I think it comes from her just being her. Having thought we’d lost her last weekend (damn those doors) we realise
that we love her more than we could have imagined. The doors are now open and she has her freedom (damn over protective parents). We can now let her be even greater than we knew she already was.

Dog of the week – Hugo
Published February 10, 2012When we first heard about Hugo, we knew he had to be included as our pet of the week! Just one look at those panda eyes and we were hooked!
Hugo has gone to live with Patrick and Jerry the Dog in a little oasis of calm on the southern coast of Spain.
Very recently, Jerry the Dog sadly lost his plamate and confidante, Ben… and was feeling somewhat wistful. So Patrick headed off to the local rescue centre and found him a friend. In the photo, Jerry is at the back, and Hugo is at the front. Happy reading!

Hugo loves the company of other dogs and especially new brother Jerry-dog.
Has been living with foster family for half his adult life with 3 other dogs so well socialised.
Loves full bowl of food which he can eat in less than 2 minutes! Walking along the dry riverbed and running into the ocean on the nearby beach.
Dislikes
Just getting to know Hugo, but seems not to dislike anything really. Apart from being left alone or ignored – always looking for attention.
Why is your pet so great?
Hugo a great dog, adapted easily to new life here at Cortijo Nuevo. Confident from day one, plays with other dog Jerry – rarely barks and ignores the birdsong in the garden! As yet, not even shown any interest in digging holes in the garden – a plus point!

Pet of The Week – Billy Boxer

After a bit of a break… we’re back with our Pet Of The Week, and thought we’d start it off with our newest addition to the family, Billy Boxer.
Billy was found abandoned by an uncaring owner back in November 2011 (more info HERE)… and we soon snapped him up to join the pack! Here’s more…

Cuddles and climbing on people’s laps – but we only allow that if we’re sat on the floor. He’s not allowed on the furniture.
He also likes eating ANYTHING! Yes… even rabbit poo up on the fields behind our home. LOVES chasing flies!
Dislikes
Going out for his last toilet break of the night. He snuggles down into his bed as if we can’t see him. He hates rain, and hides behind us if out in it.
Why is your pet so great?
He’s just a nutcase – he is a bundle of energy… and loves to play with Pepper (one of our two other dogs) and they like to tumble about together. He is so ugly that he is beautiful – much like Walter Matthau or Golem.

Pet of The Week – Dobby

Dobby lives with his family at Cortijo Azahar at Costa Tropical in southern Spain. He’s a real character, and we just love his pose in this photograph. Congratulations Dobby – you are our Pet of The Week!

He loves visitors, squeezing his squeaky ball for attention, chasing anything that lands in his garden, tumbling around with his play-mate Layla, barking at the geckos on the walls after dusk & snoozing on the sofa with his master in the evening.
Dislikes
Dobby doesn’t like birds or cats invading his territory and he isn’t too fond of having a bath but is very ameniable and doesn’t really have dislikes.
Why is your pet so great?
Dobby has such a lovely character as well as being a character!. He talks to us in doggy language and is very voluble, almost human. He watches television with us and is fixated when he sees 4 legged actors. He wakes us up with a gentle lick if he needs to go outside in the night. He’s a star.
